Bookings taken into account under the SCA Paybox scheme

Updated over 3 months ago

Not all bookings made online will be taken into account by SCA Paybox.

What's more, strong authentication involves a new method of payment confirmation that not all customers know how to use. Initially, there is a risk that some bookings will not be validated.
This situation is not the fault of either elloha or Paybox and depends solely on the banks' applications and the maturity of customers in using these applications to validate payment (some people have not installed their bank's application on their phone).

More difficulty is to be expected when the booking is made on a Smartphone, as customers will need to know how to navigate between the booking engine and their bank application, which is not always the case.

Only the following cases can be taken into account when adapting to the Paybox SCA:

  • booking services from a "classic" elloha account with a partial or full prepaid or postpaid payment method.

  • booking services for an elloha multi-owner account (mini-TDR) with a partial or full prepaid or postpaid payment method (in this case,Paybox mustbe activated in each of the elloha accounts),

  • if service charges have been set up, they must be collected from the same Paybox account as the services in the basket. A single collection will therefore be made and will be the sum of the customer's basket and these service charges.

Bank cards that have not been pre-authorised by Paybox cannot be cashed with Paybox. This is the case, for example, for bookings imported from an OTA (Booking, Expedia, etc.).

Under the Paybox SCA, there are several exemptions:

  • Purchases of less than €30 (except every 6 payment transactions or if the cumulative amount exceeds €100),

  • When the risk of fraud is lower than a rate set out in the European directive,

  • Recurring payments,

  • Payments issued by a trusted beneficiary (not before the end of 2020),

  • Non-name card payments (legal entities).

Certain transactions are not affected by strong customer authentication:

  • Payments initiated by the merchant,

  • Mail Order Telephone Order (MOTO) payments,

  • One Leg payments (the merchant's bank or the customer's bank is outside the European Union).
