The SCA when booking over the phone

Updated over 3 months ago
  • when you make a reservation in "A customer on the phone?" mode

  • or when you attempt to collect an additional payment by accessing the booking file directly,

Whether you operate in postpaid or prepaid mode, you may be affected by the application of strong authentication: the SCA can be triggered by your customer's bank at any time.

You intend to debit your customer's card

  • You received a booking a few days ago,

  • And the customer has given you their card as a guarantee on the booking engine (postpaid mode),

    • or you have already debited a deposit at the time of booking (partial prepaid mode) and you have kept their card as a guarantee for a later payment,

  • When you enter the amount to be collected and select Stripe as the payment method, a window will appear asking you whether you wish to use the bank card your customer entered when booking or whether you wish to enter a new bank card.

  • If you choose"Use registered credit card":

    • the customer's bank may not trigger the SCA,

    • in this case, you can validate the payment directly.

  • If you choose"Enter a new bank card":

    • the customer's bank may trigger the SCA,

    • a screen (see below) will immediately inform you of this in your elloha account,

    • in this case, your customer will receive an instant request for strong authentication (a word of advice: avoid debiting your customers' cards in the middle of the night ...)

    • if the authentication has been validated by the customer,

    • you can validate the payment.

Strong authentication step by step

  • Ifstrong authentication is triggered, a window will automatically appear to notify you.

  • Click on OK,

  • If the customer has validated the authentication, you will see a "Success" message

  • If not, the message indicating that a payment has failed will appear at the top of the relevant reservation file. This banner will remain in place until your customer validates the requested payment.

  • To give you the best chance of success, at the same time as the bank notifies your customer, they will receive an e-mail from elloha inviting them to validate the transaction.

  • After clicking on the link "I confirm the payment of ...€ to my bank", the customer will be able to validate this strong authentication.

Example of an e-mail sent to confirm payment

  • After clicking on the link circled in red above, this is the message displayed to the customer.

  • Once authentication has been completed, a new screen confirms payment of the transaction.
